By late May, the flowering trees have finished their display and it is time for the perennials (plants who come back each year) to start showing their stuff. Once the chance of frost has passed, it is also time to start planting all the annuals (plants that last only one season). In the Vanderbilt garden,` there are nearly 1000 perennials and over 7000 annuals each year.
