Late Fall - October/November2005 was an unusual autumn for the Hudson Valley. First, it was unusually warm late into the season. Then, it rained all the time. Mother Nature made up for the drought of summer with a series of storms including Tropical Storm Tammy, who dumped nearly 10 inches of rain in a day. So, the fall foliage was late and not as bright as usual. No matter what the weather, though, the beauty of the Hudson Valley and the Vanderbilt gardens shines through. By November, the garden has faded and many of the plants have been clipped back in preparation for winter. Still, there are always a few "late bloomers" who provide one last show.
