The town of Hyde Park is the home of three significant historical sites:
Franklin D. Roosevelt Home and Presidential Library, Eleanor Roosevelt
Historic Site (Valkill) and the Vanderbilt Mansion Historic Site. There
are a number of ways of getting to these sites. These are the easiest
routes:
 |
From NY State Thruway
| |
Take NYS Thruway to exit 18, New Paltz. Go east (right) onto Rt. 299 and
take it to the end. Go south (right) on Rt. 9W through the town of
Highland. Take the Mid-Hudson Bridge (exit just south of Highland), east
over the river to Poughkeepsie. Take first exit off of bridge, Rt. 9
North. Travel north on Rt. 9 for approx. 6 miles to the town of
Hyde Park. The FDR Home and Library will be on left as you enter the
town. Continue north for another 5 miles (approx.). The Vanderbilt
Historic Site will be on the left just before leaving town.
|
 |
From the Taconic Parkway
| |
If coming from the south, take the Parkway to I84. Then
follow directions for that route. If coming from the north,
take the Parkway to Rt. 44 exit. Take Rt. 44 west to Poughkeepsie,
following signs for Rt. 9. Take the exit just before the Mid-Hudson
bridge to Rt. 9 north. Continue on Rt. 9 for approx. 6 miles to
Hyde Park. The FDR Home and Library will be on the left as you enter
town. Continue for another 5 miles (approx.). The Vanderbilt
Historic Site will be on the left, just before you leave town.
|
 |
From I84
| |
From either the east or west, take I84 to the Rt. 9 (Fishkill) exit.
Take Rt. 9 north for approx. 30 miles to the town of Hyde Park. As you
enter the town, the FDR Home and Library will be on the left. Continue
north for approx. 5 miles. The Vanderbilt Historic Site will be on
the left, just before you leave town.
